We have received a list of needed (and not needed) items to help our neighbors in Louisiana who are beginning the long process of hurricane recovery. You can drop off items in the Spirit Center during office hours from 9:00-noon and 1:00-4:00 on Monday-Thursday. We will update you as we have new and different information. Keep in mind this is a fluid situation and they have been very specific about what they need, when they need it, and what they don't need.
Financial contributions are needed. You can drop off checks for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) and we will forward promptly. This is a very quick and efficient way to help. You can also visit the UMCOR website and make online contributions. Please note that salaries for UMCOR are paid by the UMC so your contributions have a direct benefit on those who need it. We are thrilled about the quick response, and even more importantly, the long-term commitment of UMCOR. They are equipped and trained for precisely these situations and are on the ground and in direct communications with people in the affected areas.
We are also grateful to our district for its prompt and generous response of a $100,000 contribution. Know that your regular tithes and offerings help make this possible as we participate in these gifts through our 100% apportionment giving. THANK YOU, FOLEY UMC for your generosity! As always, those gifts can be made on our website at foleyumc.org/give or by dropping off checks to the church office.
