Our Motto: "... be doers
of the word, and not hearers only ..."
James 1:22
United Methodist Men shall be a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow
spiritually and to seek daily His will. Our primary purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their relationships.
Men seeking membership in our local United Methodist Men's fellowship shall
subscribe to the "Purpose" of the United Methodist Men and to these personal
objectives:
Engage in daily Bible study and prayer.
Bear witness to Christ's way in daily work
and in
all personal contacts through words and actions.
Engage in some form of definite Christian service.
Foley United Methodist Men's fellowship is open to all men of the church.
We meet for breakfast each third Sunday of the month in the Church Fellowship Hall.
Breakfast is served at 7:00 a.m. with a program that follows.
Our excellent breakfasts are prepared by those fine cooks in the Men's Club
and the menu usually includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy and grits.
Sometimes we have been known to have hot cakes, bacon and sausage.
It should be noted, however, there is always plenty and second helpings are encouraged.
During the months May through September the United Methodist Men do not meet for breakfast because of the Galilean Worship Services.
Our organization has one major fund raising effort each year, the fall citrus fruit sale.
Proceeds from this sale are directed to support the Foley
United Methodist Church's goals and objectives.
Significant donations have been
directed to our Youth Programs and Hand Bell Choir.
Annually we host a Sweetheart Banquet for the women of our church.
We urge all men to
become active members of our fellowship and to enjoy being a part of our commitment to Christian
service.
Below are photos of our breakfast on September 26th, 2004. Our speaker was our pastor, Rev. Dr. Lance Moore, who spoke about his years prior to becoming an ordained minister and was touted as being "all you ever wanted to know about our pastor but were afraid to ask".
Photos that appear below were taken at our breakfast on October 17th, 2004. Our speaker was James Beam, a 16 year veteran teacher, with 11 years in the Baldwin County school system. He presently teaches government, history, and economics at the Baldwin County High School in Bay Minette. Jim's very interesting and enlightening talk was on the "Challenges that face Public Education".
Photos that appear below were taken at our breakfast on April 17th, 2005. Our speaker was Sgt. Nick Holcomb, 16 year veteran with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Department, and presently supervisor in the Narcotics Division. Nick presented a very informative view into the Sheriff's Departments focus on drugs in Baldwin County. He also showed a video directed toward recruiting graduates from colleges who might be interested in a career in law enforcment and Baldwin County. Nick has been a resident of the county for 30 years and was a past member of our church.
